Re: Re: Hybrid Scooter
It is cool, but the knee rest should be padded a little more?
I have several patients tried "roll about" scooter and they swear by it. I've tried it at trade shows, and they are fairly comfortable, and some of them can be folded.
As for this "transformer" crutch, I didn't figure out how and where you can purchase it. I guess it is a prototype of some kind.

I agree. I frequently utilize the roll-about for my post-op patients, and they uniformly relate positive experiences with the device. The one caveat that i can relate is in the negotiation of stairs. I agree this knee rest needs to be padded more...but maybe they're onto something....
We just need to wait for the 2.0 version!

Re: Hybrid Scooter
San Antonio patients would definitely need extra padding, heavier structure to support more weight.
How about a triangular base for more support rather than the singular base.
A beverage holder....a snack tray.....a fold-up seat and maybe a mini fridge. But I digress.

We should contact them with the suggested modifications....maybe we can get a cut?

Re: Hybrid Scooter
Good idea, Ryan, but I forgot the all-important cigarette holder and ashtray. Can't forget that, can we? Without that we would lose at least 50% of our patients!

I'm not sure if a drink holder wouldn't be more destructive to health ? Have you guys seen the stats on childhood obesity ? Flouride is preventing dental caries, but soda should still really come with a warning label. And I would vote for a tax on the stuff. My wife is a CDE dietitian and says soda is more responsible for obesity in kids than any other single product.

Re: Hybrid Scooter
Have you or Carol seen those ridiculous commercials touting how wholesome high fructose corn syrup is? When someone starts to attack HFCS, the other person asks them what's so bad about it and the attacker can't come up with anything to say.
I wish someone would ask me. I'd have a ready answer to "What's so bad about high fructose corn syrup?"
Well, for beginners how about the fact that it raises insulin resistance? And how about the fact that it causes triglycerides to become elevated?
Those commercials are asinine but the average American probably hears that and thinks that there is nothing wrong with downing a 6-pack of corn syrup laden sodas.
Pretty soon only foreigners will be able to ride the rides at Disneyland - no American kids, or adults, will be able to fit into the seats anymore.
