As all of us know by now, Congress’ best intentions were derailed by one Republican Senator – Senator Jim Bunning who collegially told the Democrats “tough s___!” when they tried to get him to consider the people who would be hurt by his actions.
Unfortunately their beseeching did not help. He isn’t running for re-election and he doesn’t give a s___. Obviously, huh?
It is interesting to me that Bunning is described by his office as a “fiscal conservative” but he is also reported to be right up there among the “ear-markers,” those congressmen and women as well as senators, who dip into the tax well for their own favorite causes.
I would respect all of them more if they were conservative when it came to their own pet causes. Bunning has a pretty big dipper when it comes to that big ol' tax well…to the tune of $70 million dollars in the past two years alone. www.legistorm.com/earmarks if you are interested.
But he thinks it is all right to deny out-of-work people unemployment benefits during a recession and says it okay if we doctors take a 21% pay cut to provide their healthcare? What do you think? Maybe we should tell him “Tough s____.” But my mama raised me to be a lady so perhaps I should leave that to someone else to say to him. I am sure there are plenty of takers among you.
Personally, I am tired of hypocrites of all stripes. I don’t care what party they are from – Democrats, Republicans, Green or Fuchsia Party. Don’t tell me you are fiscally conservative and cut a program that maintains the living of so many of us and then fund millions that line your constituents’ pockets, you hypocrite!
