This lecture focuses on the importance of offloading the pressure sources and etiology of diabetic foot ulceration. Discussion includes debridement, pressure relief devices, accommodation, and surgical techniques for mechanical balancing. Several case presentations help to clarify each of these important aspects of caring for the "at risk" foot in an effort to prevent amputation.

Goal and Objective
After participating in this activity, the viewer should be better able to:
1. Be aware of the significance of increased plantar pressures.
2. Comprehend offloading concepts.
3. Utilize the components of offloading
