Dr. Murphy explains relevant foot function, describes the gait cycle and defines fundamental biomechanical concepts applied for foot function assessments and gait analysis. He presents how these concepts are measured, calculated and then displayed for treatment purposes, and in setting treatment expectations and outcomes. He also provides the Murphy 4P method, a protocol for data analysis and interpretation for use with the F-Scan in-shoe force pressure system for treatment purposes.

 Goal and Objective
After participating in this activity, the viewer should be better able to:
1. Describe foot function concepts and pivot points.
2. Describe the gait cycle.
3. Understand fundamental biomechanical concepts.
4. Evaluate and measure the gait cycle.
5. Understand the Murphy 4P method for in-shoe analysis.

A Pentium-III class computer with a minimum of 256MB of system RAM is required to view Online Internet lectures. While a 56Kbps dial-up connection is supported, a Cable or DSL broadband Internet is strongly recommended for optimal video playback. You will need an up-to-date web browser such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or the AOL browser with Java and JavaScript enabled. Some lectures require the use of Internet Explorer to run and will not run with other browsers. Lectures may require the use of helper applications or plug-ins to access the materials. For example, most online lectures/presentations require either Adobe Flash Player or Windows Media Player (both free).
