Energy First: Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) in the Treatment of Diabetic Foot Ulcers

Anthony Tickner, DPM

Anthony Tickner, DPM discusses extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) and differentiate between types of shockwaves. Dr Tickner, also reviews how pulsed acoustic cellular expression technology interacts with tissues on a cellular level, the mechanism of action on wound healing, as well as clinical studies and real-life cases to demonstrate efficacy.

Goals and Objectives
  1. Discuss Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) and differentiate between types of shockwaves (ie, electrohydraulic, electromagnetic, and piezoelectric)
  2. Review how a type of ESWT, pulsed acoustic cellular expression technology interacts with the tissue and at the cellular level to trigger a healing response.
  3. Review the mechanism of action focused pulsed acoustic cellular expression technology elicits in wound healing.
  4. Review clinical studies and real-life cases to demonstrate efficacy of focused pulsed acoustic cellular expression technology in relation to standard of care (SOC) in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers.
