The dermatoscope is one instrument that will make you a better diagnostician in identifying skin disorders of the lower extremity. Clinical indications for biopsy, as well as the risks and advantages of biopsy techniques will be discussed. 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss the clinical and pathologic correlation of pigmented neoplasms, including nevus and melanoma.
  2. Understand the optics and use of the dermatoscope in identifying skin disorders of the lower extremity.
  3. Discuss the dermatoscopic criteria for biopsy of pigmented lesions.
